Frank Gerritz: Group Show at Kasmin

Minimalism and Its Afterimage until August 14, 2023 (New York, NY)

Frank Gerritz is currently showing at Kasmin in New York until August 14, 2023 in a group exhibition titled Minimalism and Its Afterimage. The extensive exhibition frames the artists on view as a continuation of the legacy of minimalism, and hence in its afterimange (a term first employed by Jasper Johns), works in various mediums and developed across a seven decade time span have contributed to the art historical canon beyond the movement's first inceptions.

Gerritz's Temporary Ground, 'Perfect Example' (2014), a 2D recangular sculpture portraying a black background with two fine lines across the top and bottom of the frame, is in the show among artists Larry Bell, Liz Deschenes, Dan Flavin, Marcia Hafif, Peter Halley, Ralph Humphrey, Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, Jonathan Lasker, Sol LeWitt, Richard Long, Robert Mangold, John McCracken, Howardena Pindell, Robert Ryman, Fred Sandback, Jan Schoonhoven, Sturtevant, and Christopher Wilmarth. The piece is described as complementing the dialogue of Donald Judd's geometric vocabulary.
